Hitesh Patel

Hitesh Patel Global Executive, Blu3Aero LLC. Redefining Aviation Through Technology: Hitesh Patel’s Vision for the Future of Flight. Building a Foundation in Aviation Excellence The aviation industry is evolving faster than ever before. From AI-powered operations and predictive maintenance to digital transformation and sustainable aviation technologies, the future of flight is no longer defined only by aircraft, it is being shaped by innovation, data, and strategic leadership. At the center of this transformation stands Hitesh Patel, a globally recognized aviation strategist whose career has been built on combining operational excellence with forward-thinking technology. As the Founder & Principal of Blu3Aero, Hitesh Patel has spent decades helping airlines, aviation startups, lessors, and global stakeholders navigate complex operational and technological challenges. His journey reflects more than leadership, it reflects a deep commitment to building smarter, more efficient, and future-ready aviation ecosystems. Hitesh Patel’s aviation journey began from the technical side of the industry, where he developed a strong understanding of aircraft maintenance, operational systems, and regulatory compliance. Early in his career, he worked directly within airline technical operations, gaining hands-on exposure to the systems that keep global aviation moving safely and efficiently. This technical background became one of his greatest strengths. Rather than viewing aviation solely from a business perspective, Hitesh learned to understand the operational heartbeat of an airline. Over time, this allowed him to bridge the gap between engineering, operations, strategy, and technology, a combination that would later define his leadership style. His experience across major airlines and aviation organizations helped him build expertise in fleet management, operational optimization, compliance systems, and airline infrastructure development. More importantly, it shaped his belief that technology should not simply support aviation, it should transform it. Creating Blu3Aero: A Technology-Driven Aviation Advisory Firm With decades of industry experience behind him, Hitesh founded Blu3Aero with a clear objective: to create a modern aviation consulting firm focused on innovation, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability. Unlike traditional consulting firms that rely on generic strategies, Blu3Aero focuses on customized aviation solutions designed around each client’s operational and technological needs. The company works with airlines, investors, governments, and aviation startups, helping them improve performance while preparing for the future of air travel. Under Hitesh’s leadership, Blu3Aero has developed a reputation for combining technical insight with strategic execution. The firm supports areas such as: Airline operational setup Technical and maintenance advisory Fleet planning and asset management Digital transformation strategies Regulatory and compliance support Operational restructuring and optimization Aviation technology integration One of the firm’s most recognized approaches is its Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model. Instead of simply advising clients, Blu3Aero actively helps organizations build systems, operate them successfully, and then transfer long-term operational control back to the client. This model ensures sustainable growth and creates lasting organizational value. Leading the Shift Toward Aviation Technology For Hitesh Patel, technology is no longer optional in aviation, it is essential. He believes the future of the industry will be driven by digital ecosystems, predictive analytics, automation, and intelligent operational frameworks. Throughout his career, he has consistently supported the adoption of technology that improves airline efficiency, safety, and decision-making. His work emphasizes the importance of integrating digital tools into every stage of airline operations, from maintenance planning and compliance monitoring to customer experience and fleet optimization. He strongly advocates for the use of data-driven systems that allow airlines to predict operational issues before they happen. By leveraging analytics and AI-supported processes, airlines can reduce delays, improve maintenance cycles, optimize fuel usage, and strengthen operational reliability. Under his guidance, Blu3Aero has also supported projects focused on next-generation aviation technologies, helping organizations modernize their infrastructure while adapting to changing industry demands. Driving Innovation Across Global Aviation Projects Over the years, Hitesh Patel has played key leadership roles in several major aviation ventures across different regions of the world. His ability to manage large-scale operations while introducing modern systems and strategic innovation has made him a respected figure within the industry. One of his most notable experiences involved helping establish airline operational frameworks from the ground up. These projects required not only technical expertise but also the ability to implement scalable systems capable of supporting rapid growth. His leadership roles have included overseeing: Large aircraft fleets Airline restructuring projects Asset management strategies Operational integration and compliance systems Beyond traditional airline operations, Hitesh has also shown strong interest in the future of sustainable and intelligent aviation technologies. He has worked alongside organizations exploring advanced aviation solutions, including hydrogen-based technologies, digital operational models, and modern infrastructure systems designed to support the next era of global air travel. A Leadership Style Focused on Collaboration and Adaptability Hitesh Patel’s leadership philosophy is built around precision, teamwork, and continuous improvement. He believes aviation leaders must remain closely connected to operational realities while staying adaptable enough to embrace change. His management style encourages collaboration across departments, ensuring technical teams, operational leaders, and strategic decision-makers work toward shared objectives. He emphasizes that successful aviation transformation happens when innovation is aligned with operational discipline. According to Hitesh, long-term success in aviation comes from building resilient systems rather than chasing short-term gains. This mindset has helped him navigate industry challenges while maintaining a clear focus on sustainable growth and operational reliability. He also believes mentorship and knowledge transfer are essential parts of leadership. Through his work, he has helped guide teams and emerging aviation professionals, encouraging future leaders to combine technical expertise with strategic thinking. Shaping the Future of Aviation As aviation enters a new era shaped by digital transformation and sustainability, Hitesh Patel continues to focus on building smarter and more adaptive aviation systems. He sees enormous potential in technologies such as: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Predictive maintenance systems Automation and operational analytics Sustainable aviation infrastructure Intelligent fleet management platforms Data-driven airline operations For him, the future of aviation will belong to organizations that can successfully combine technology, operational efficiency, and customer-centric innovation. Through Blu3Aero, Hitesh continues to work with aviation stakeholders around the world, helping them prepare for industry shifts while building systems that are resilient,

James Espey

James Espey Owner, ESPEY & ASSOCIATES LIMITED (UK) A Legacy of Leadership: The Journey of James Espey. Early Beginnings and Formative Years James S. Espey’s journey is a compelling story of resilience, discipline, and a clear sense of purpose. Born in Zambia in 1943, his early life was shaped by both unique experiences and significant challenges. Following his parents’ separation, he and his brother were sent to boarding school in Cape Town, where they spent much of their childhood growing up independently. Life at school was not without its difficulties. Coming from a relatively modest background compared to many of his peers, James learned early on how to navigate challenges with determination. Sports and academics became his anchor, helping him build confidence and a strong sense of direction. These formative years played a crucial role in shaping his mindset, one rooted in perseverance, humility, and ambition. Determined to build a better future, he pursued higher education and earned both a BCom and an MBA through financial loans. Repaying these loans early in his career was a milestone that reflected not just his discipline, but also his commitment to self-reliance. These early experiences laid the foundation for his practical and grounded approach to leadership and decision-making. Rising Through the Global Business Landscape James began his professional journey in 1970 with Gilbeys South Africa, where his strategic thinking and ability to deliver results quickly set him apart. His career progressed rapidly, and by the age of 34, he was invited to London to join International Distillers & Vintners (IDV) as Global Marketing Director. This move marked a turning point in his career. As the first non-English member of the board, he faced both opportunity and resistance. However, he remained focused on performance and long-term impact rather than external perceptions. During his tenure at IDV, James played a pivotal role in shaping globally recognized brands. He contributed to the transformation of Baileys Irish Cream into the world’s leading liqueur and led the launch of Malibu, which went on to become one of the most successful brands globally. His work was driven by a clear philosophy, innovation, strong brand identity, and a global outlook combined with local execution. A Strategic Mindset Built for the Long Term What truly distinguishes James Espey’s career is his unwavering commitment to long-term thinking. At a time when many organizations focused on short-term financial gains, he consistently emphasized sustainable growth and future value creation. During his time at Seagram, he led a major transformation of Chivas Regal by securing a $100 million investment aimed at long-term brand building and stock planning. This bold and forward-looking decision required both conviction and patience, as the returns were not immediate. Over time, however, this strategy proved to be highly successful, positioning the brand as a global leader. His approach demonstrated that true business success lies in thinking ahead, investing wisely, and staying committed to a long-term vision. Leadership Philosophy: Authenticity, Ownership, and Influence James Espey’s leadership philosophy is rooted in authenticity, accountability, and influence. He firmly believes that leadership is not defined by position or authority, but by the ability to inspire, guide, and create impact. One of the key lessons he emphasizes is the importance of self-advocacy. He believes that individuals must take control of their own growth, rather than waiting for recognition or opportunities. This mindset has been central to his own success and continues to shape the way he mentors others. Collaboration is another cornerstone of his leadership approach. His belief that “Together Everyone Achieves More” reflects his focus on teamwork and collective success. He creates environments where individuals feel empowered to contribute, think independently, and grow both personally and professionally. Entrepreneurship and Strategic Investments After stepping away from corporate life at the age of 55, James entered a new and equally impactful phase of his journey. Instead of slowing down, he shifted his focus toward entrepreneurship, mentorship, and strategic investments. He became actively involved in supporting startups, bringing not only financial backing but also decades of experience and strategic insight. One of his most notable successes was his early involvement in Mimecast, a cybersecurity company that eventually grew into a multi-billion-dollar enterprise. In addition, he founded The Last Drop Distillers, a premium spirits company that gained global recognition for its exclusive offerings and was later successfully acquired. His continued involvement in ventures such as whisky production and sustainability-focused initiatives highlights his forward-thinking mindset and willingness to embrace new opportunities. Giving Back Through Mentorship and Purpose Beyond his professional achievements, James has always placed great importance on giving back. Mentorship has been a consistent part of his journey, where he guides individuals by encouraging independent thinking rather than providing direct answers. His approach is centered on being a sounding board, helping others explore their own ideas and develop confidence in their decisions. This method has proven to be highly effective in nurturing future leaders. He is also actively involved in initiatives related to mental health, recognizing it as a growing challenge in today’s world. Through his contributions, he aims to create a positive impact that extends beyond business and into society. A Legacy Defined by Vision and Impact James S. Espey’s journey stands as a testament to the power of vision, resilience, and purposeful leadership. Over the years, his contributions have generated billions in economic value, helped build globally recognized brands, and influenced countless professionals. What sets him apart is not just what he has achieved, but how he has achieved it, with clarity, consistency, and a long-term perspective. Even today, he remains actively engaged in mentoring, investing, and exploring new ideas. His story serves as an inspiration for those who aspire to lead with purpose and create lasting impact. For James, success has never been a destination, it is an ongoing journey defined by growth, contribution, and the ability to make a meaningful difference.

Joan Gillman

Joan Gillman Science Teacher, The Browning school. Global Woman Leader of the Year. Introduction In the ever-evolving landscape of education, where innovation meets purpose, Joan Gillman stands out as a passionate educator dedicated to nurturing curiosity and empowering the next generation. As a science educator at The Browning School, her journey reflects a lifelong commitment to learning, inclusivity, and hands-on discovery. The Spark: A Childhood Fueled by Curiosity Joan Gillman’s journey into education was rooted in a childhood filled with exploration and imagination. From experimenting with household materials in her bathroom to observing snowfall patterns and measuring weather conditions, her early years were defined by a deep fascination with science and the natural world. Her curiosity extended beyond individual exploration. Alongside her older brother, she built robots from shoeboxes and designed model cities using construction sets, even naming one of their creations “Kinderkamack Village.” These playful yet formative experiences unknowingly laid the groundwork for her future as an educator. Her passion for teaching emerged during high school through community service initiatives. Joan volunteered to teach elementary students how to play the recorder, tutor math, and organize inclusive playground activities. Her ability to engage every child, regardless of skill level, earned admiration and reinforced her belief in inclusivity. Simultaneously, she taught swimming, including to children with special needs, and worked as a substitute ballet teacher. These experiences not only strengthened her teaching skills but also instilled a deep sense of fulfillment in helping children build confidence and overcome fears. A defining moment came during her Master’s program in Education, when she worked with profoundly deaf students at P.S. 47 Junior High School. Observing the effectiveness of hands-on learning such as building a mini amusement park during an electronics unit, profoundly influenced her teaching philosophy. From that point forward, experiential learning became central to her approach. Career Journey: Embracing Change and Growth Joan’s career spans decades of dedication, adaptability, and continuous growth. A significant turning point came when she joined The Browning School, transitioning from teaching older students to engaging with children as young as second grade. Initially, this shift required adjustment. However, Joan quickly embraced the challenge, designing age-appropriate, engaging curricula that sparked curiosity in younger learners. To her surprise, she found immense joy in teaching early learners, which inspired her to further expand her hands-on teaching methods. Today, Joan is entering a new chapter, dedicating her full attention to lower school science education, including teaching kindergarten students. This transition reflects not only her adaptability but also her commitment to shaping young minds at the earliest stages of learning. Defining Achievement: Recognition and Real Impact Throughout her distinguished career, Joan Gillman has received numerous prestigious accolades. Among the most notable is her recognition as “Top Educator of the Year 2025” by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). She has also been honored as one of the “Top 25 Global Impact Leaders”, with upcoming distinctions including the Lifetime Achievement Award (2026), Top Educator of the Decade, and Woman of the Year 2026. Her contributions have also been acknowledged by Marquis Who’s Who, Forbes Magazine, CXO Time, CIO Views, and The Executive Lens, among others. Additionally, she was named “Urhy Thompson Teacher of the Year” award at The Calhoun School, an achievement she considers one of the most meaningful in her career. Beyond awards, Joan recently joined the Fortuna Education Council/Global Advisory Board, where she collaborates with global leaders to advance educational practices. Yet, despite these accolades, Joan finds her greatest fulfillment in her students’ success. For her, no recognition compares to witnessing a student grow in confidence, develop curiosity, and achieve their goals. Resilience and Engagement: Overcoming Challenges Joan’s career has not been without challenges. Early in her journey, while teaching in the South Bronx, she encountered a classroom with a wide range of reading levels, from second to tenth grade within a single fifth-grade class. Instead of being overwhelmed, she rose to the occasion, tailoring her teaching to meet every student’s needs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Joan faced another major challenge: transitioning to online teaching. Determined to maintain engagement, she conducted live science experiments from her kitchen, providing students and parents with simple materials to follow along at home. Her efforts were met with overwhelming appreciation, highlighting her creativity and dedication. One of the most emotionally challenging moments in her career came in 1986, when she had to explain the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster to her students. This experience reinforced the profound responsibility educators hold not just as teachers, but as guides and emotional anchors for their students. Adapting to technological advancements has also been a significant journey. From chalkboards in 1982 to Smart Boards, Chromebooks, and digital platforms like Seesaw, Google Classroom, and Canvas, Joan has continuously evolved. Today, she embraces technology as a powerful tool to enhance learning and engagement. Redefining Success: Impact Beyond the Classroom For Joan Gillman, success is not measured by titles or accolades, but by the impact she creates in her students’ lives. She defines success as inspiring students to become lifelong learners and passionate explorers of knowledge. Her influence extends beyond academics. As a leader of her school’s Green Team, Joan actively promotes environmental awareness and community engagement. Under her guidance, students have organized fundraisers, supported global initiatives like Water.org, and contributed to disaster relief efforts, raising thousands of dollars for meaningful causes. She also encourages students to participate in environmental projects, such as clean-up initiatives and conservation activities. Through these experiences, students develop leadership skills, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility toward the planet. Joan takes immense pride in seeing her students grow into environmentally conscious individuals, some of whom pursue advocacy and leadership roles in sustainability. Breaking Misconceptions About Teaching Joan believes that teaching is often underestimated. While it is one of the most rewarding professions, it also demands discipline, adaptability, and continuous learning. She emphasizes the importance of maintaining structure, prioritizing well-being, and seeking support from fellow educators. For Joan, collaboration and professional development are essential to staying effective

Bozena Gruzd

Bozena Gruzd Director, HR Business Partner of li-cycle Bozena Gruzd: Blending Psychology and Business Through HR Leadership Bozena Gruzd, Director and HR Business Partner at Li-Cycle, holds two bachelor’s degrees one in Economics and another in Psychology. Seeking a career that would unite both fields, she pursued a master’s degree in HR Management. Human Resources proved to be the ideal path, allowing her to support organizations while drawing deeply from her psychological background. Li-Cycle is a pioneering company specializing in the recovery of critical materials from lithium-ion batteries, reintegrating them into the supply chain. Its advanced technology enables batteries to be processed safely with zero landfill waste, minimal greenhouse gas emissions, and a significant reduction in CO output. “This is truly encouraging for the world,” Bozena notes. “We now have a safe and sustainable way to recycle lithium-ion batteries while supporting the continued growth of the EV industry.” Challenges as Catalysts for Growth Bozena openly admits she doesn’t enjoy challenges but recognizes they are unavoidable. Whenever she encounters a difficult situation, she reminds herself: “This is temporary. Pause. Breathe. Give it your best you’ll get through it.” And then, she simply moves forward. One defining moment occurred early in her career when she was tasked with delivering a two-day communication skills training for a group of senior engineers. At just 25 years old, the idea of teaching experienced professionals felt overwhelming. “I honestly felt I should be the one learning from them,” she recalls. Determined to succeed, Bozena immersed herself in preparation developing multiple training scenarios and refining countless presentation versions. Despite her efforts, self-doubt crept in. She feared the assignment might become the greatest failure of her career and even promised herself she would never accept such a project again. Sleep eluded her the night before the session. Yet the following morning, she was greeted by participants offering warm, encouraging smiles. Taking a deep breath, she addressed the room with sincerity: “I know I’m young and you know it too. You bring far more experience and wisdom than I do. I also understand you may have preferred different ways to spend these two days. But since we’re here together, what if I simply share the most valuable and interesting things I learned at university? I’m young enough to still remember all those books and I’ve selected the best insights for you.” Their response was immediate and supportive: “Let’s try. Go ahead.” Later, participants shared that her honesty and humility instantly built trust. The training became highly engaging, with full participation throughout. From that experience, Bozena gained a lasting lesson: “Stay humble. Be honest. Authenticity always resonates.” Life as a Mountain Journey Bozena often compares life to hiking. “What fascinates me about mountains is that they offer many peaks. The path is never a steady climb you move up and down repeatedly. Life mirrors that rhythm, filled with highs and lows.” Each summit, she explains, unveils new perspectives, opportunities, and challenges. The journey becomes deeply fulfilling when one chooses the “right mountain” a path aligned with personal strengths, passions, and aspirations. “Climbing a mountain may bring success. Climbing your mountain brings both happiness and success.” Driving HR Growth at Li-Cycle Bozena oversees HR responsibilities across the EMEA region, which is currently experiencing rapid expansion. Recruitment remains her primary focus and will continue to be central in the near future. She joined Li-Cycle in February 2022 as only the second employee in EMEA. By December of the same year, the regional team had grown to 25 colleagues. Alongside hiring efforts, she has been instrumental in building and strengthening the HR infrastructure for the region. Navigating Work and Life Balance Bozena shares candidly that maintaining work-life balance is still a learning process. “It’s easy for me to become fully absorbed in work, so I consciously remind myself to pause at least once every eight hours.” She also emphasizes the importance of a supportive team culture. When she sees colleagues investing extra effort, she matches their dedication while encouraging mutual care within the team. “This is one of the reasons I value being at Li-Cycle a company that genuinely promotes balance.” She credits leadership for reinforcing this mindset, recalling a guiding principle shared by Lauren Choate, CPO at Li-Cycle: “Your health is priority number one, your family is priority number two, and your work is priority number three.” Bozena believes such messages must extend beyond words. “It’s vital not only to say it but to live it.” Advice for Aspiring Leaders Bozena’s message to emerging professionals and business leaders is refreshingly simple: “Make mistakes and keep going. Perfection isn’t the goal. The world needs people who are willing to give their best.” Progress, she emphasizes, is not defined by speed. “It doesn’t matter how fast or slow you move. Just continue forward. The horizon will always be there— today, tomorrow, or even next week.”

Dana Scarcella

Dana Scarcella VP, Head of Human Resources at NOVONIX Dana became the first member of her family to pursue higher education a milestone shaped by resilience and curiosity. Raised by a single mother employed in a unionized minimum-wage role, Dana grew up observing workplace dynamics from a unique lens. She often wondered why friction seemed inevitable between management and employees, believing there must be a more collaborative and respectful way forward. This early exposure sparked her interest in Industrial Relations, a field she chose deliberately with the conviction that human resource management could bridge communication gaps and cultivate healthier organizational relationships. Even today, Dana remains a firm advocate of direct, transparent, and honest dialogue between leadership and staff, viewing it as the cornerstone of trust and long-term success Defining Ideal Leadership For Dana, leadership is deeply rooted in navigating complexity rather than avoiding it. She believes effective leaders must learn to function amid uncertainty, interpret ambiguity with clarity, and actively seek broad-based feedback before making critical decisions. Leadership, in her perspective, is not about satisfying everyone an expectation she considers unrealistic but about setting direction, articulating the reasoning behind choices, establishing clear expectations, and inspiring collective alignment. By understanding how the organization operates at every level, leaders empower their teams to move beyond isolated tasks and appreciate the broader mission and vision. NOVONIX NOVONIX is positioned at the forefront of battery materials and technological innovation. The company is dedicated to developing sustainable solutions and high-performance materials that support the rapidly expanding electric vehicle and energy storage industries. As global demand for EVs and grid-scale storage systems accelerates, the need for advanced battery technologies capable of delivering durability, efficiency, and longevity continues to intensify. While battery cell manufacturing within the United States is gaining momentum, the domestic supply chain is still evolving. Recognizing this emerging gap, NOVONIX strategically anticipated the challenge. Through its Anode Materials division, the company is actively working to localize production, with plans to manufacture significant volumes of high-capacity, long-life synthetic graphite within the US a move designed to strengthen supply chain resilience and meet growing industry needs. NOVONIX’s growth strategy reflects bold ambition. Dana shares, “We are currently navigating the early stages of our company’s lifecycle, with a workforce of approximately 200 employees. Over the next three years, we aim to expand our team by more than 500%. This phase is both incredibly exciting and undeniably demanding we are, quite literally, building while advancing.” In this transformative stage, Dana is focused on establishing a scalable HR infrastructure, laying down the structural and cultural foundations necessary to support accelerated expansion. Professional Journey Dana’s career path is distinguished by breadth and adaptability. Having contributed to eight different organizations across seven distinct industries, she has cultivated a diverse and versatile professional perspective. Each role presented new challenges, insights, and opportunities for growth, enabling her to integrate a wide range of best practices into her leadership approach. Equally important to Dana is the pursuit of balance through intentional decision-making. She has consciously shaped her career to accommodate both personal fulfillment and professional advancement. Reflecting on her journey, she remarks, “I could never have predicted how my career would unfold. However, looking back, it’s evident that every experience prepared me for the next chapter. It has been an extraordinary journey, and I remain excited about what lies ahead.” Focusing on Top Priorities Dana views career development as a continuous interplay between aspiration, capability, and necessary trade-offs. Rather than chasing the elusive ideal of perfect balance, she prioritizes intentionality making conscious choices aligned with her values and commitments. She regularly reflects on whether her time and energy are being invested in what truly matters. One of her most significant lessons was accepting that excellence does not require equal intensity across all areas. Following her return from maternity leave, Dana redefined her priorities using a tiered framework. She explains, “I committed my full energy to Tier 1 priorities. Tier 2 received focused but measured attention. Anything categorized under Tier 3, I respectfully declined.” This structured clarity allowed her to protect both performance and wellbeing. Dana has experienced firsthand the effectiveness of positive reinforcement. During her college years, while working as a waitress under a strict dress code, she encountered a defining moment. Employees who met every uniform requirement received a reward, but Dana narrowly missed it due to a single overlooked item a calculator. Though initially disappointed, the experience reshaped her mindset. She recalls, “That small incident permanently influenced my behavior. From that day forward, I ensured complete preparedness.” Gaining Perspective Through Challenges Dana firmly believes that the most demanding professional experiences often yield the greatest personal and leadership growth. While leadership may feel smoother during periods of economic stability, it becomes significantly more complex during downturns. Having navigated challenging business climates, workforce reductions, and high-pressure scenarios, Dana emphasizes the importance of resilience within HR leadership. She believes HR professionals must remain steady, empathetic, and dependable particularly when organizations face uncertainty. Passion for People and Cultures Although Dana excelled academically in analytical disciplines such as mathematics and science, she found herself increasingly drawn to the intricate nature of human behavior. Unlike equations with definitive answers, human psychology presents nuance, variability, and depth elements that deeply fascinated her. She values the individuality of people, teams, and organizational cultures, along with the diversity of global perspectives. These interests ultimately shaped her commitment to human resources. Leadership Philosophy Dana’s leadership philosophy centers on empowerment rather than authority. She believes leadership is less about directing others and more about guiding individuals to recognize their strengths, potential, and capabilities. She strongly aligns with the principles of servant leadership removing barriers, fostering supportive environments, recognizing exceptional effort, and reinforcing behaviors that contribute to collective success.

Jessy Tolkan

Jessy Tolkan CEO & President of Drive Agency Culminating as a Successful Leader For this visionary leader, success has never been defined by a single milestone or title. Instead, it has unfolded as a continuous journey shaped by growth, resilience, and evolving impact. “I’ve been incredibly fortunate to witness success in many different forms over the past 20 years,” he shares. “Early in my career, success was measured through tangible, immediate outcomes like the number of voters I registered on the UW-Madison campus. Those moments taught me discipline, persistence, and the value of grassroots engagement.” As his career progressed, the meaning of success transformed. It became less about numbers alone and more about scale, influence, and long-term change. “More recently, success has meant helping unlock millions of dollars in philanthropic capital to address global issues from the climate crisis to human rights,” he explains. “These achievements are deeply fulfilling because they represent systemic progress rather than isolated wins.” He emphasizes that success is not static; it evolves with perspective. What feels significant at one stage may later become a stepping stone toward something greater. “Success is layered,” he reflects. “Sometimes it’s personal growth. Sometimes it’s organizational progress. And at other times, it’s the ability to create opportunities that positively affect communities and future generations.” The Power of Self-Advocacy One of the most profound leadership lessons he has learned is the necessity of taking ownership of one’s professional advancement. “Early on, many people assume that hard work alone guarantees recognition,” he notes. “But experience teaches you that career growth cannot rely solely on the expectation that someone else particularly those in leadership positions will automatically look out for your best interests.” He stresses that leadership requires courage not only in decision-making but also in self-representation. “You must become your own strongest advocate,” he says. “Whether it’s negotiating compensation, requesting equity, or pursuing partnership, these conversations are rarely comfortable but they are essential.” Avoiding such discussions often leads to stagnation, undervaluation, or missed opportunities. “Confidence is built by stepping into discomfort,” he explains. “When you believe in your value and articulate your contributions clearly, you shift from waiting for permission to actively shaping your trajectory.” Building a Brand Through Bridge-Building A defining achievement for Jessy and the Drive Agency team has been their ability to unite two worlds often seen as incompatible: youth activism and the corporate sector. “At first glance, these communities appear to operate with entirely different priorities,” he observes. “Youth activists are driven by urgency, values, and systemic change, while corporations are traditionally guided by structure, scale, and profitability.” However, Drive Agency recognized a powerful opportunity within this contrast. “Our work has demonstrated that when these groups are thoughtfully brought together, they can generate transformative solutions,” he explains. “Innovation frequently emerges at the intersection of differing perspectives.” He highlights that global challenges particularly climate change cannot be solved within silos. “The magnitude of today’s issues requires cross-sector collaboration,” he adds. “We must be willing to engage beyond familiar networks and build partnerships that might once have seemed unlikely.” Purpose-Driven Mission Drive Agency operates with a clear commitment: contributing to a more just and equitable world. The team understands that this mission represents work that spans generations. “We remain humbled by the opportunity to play even a small role in this larger movement,” he says. “Our focus is to push relentlessly toward solutions that address the climate crisis while ensuring fairness, inclusion, and equity.” He underscores that climate solutions must benefit all communities not just a privileged few. “True progress will demand participation from governments, institutions, businesses, and individuals across every region of the world,” he explains. “When we succeed, it will reaffirm humanity’s capacity for cooperation, creativity, and collective action.” Responsibility and Human Context Working with major global corporations brings both opportunity and responsibility. While many organizations already possess sophisticated research and analytics capabilities, Drive Agency adds another dimension. “We help translate data into human understanding,” he explains. “Behind every statistic are real communities, real challenges, and real lives.” Rather than simply incorporating external expertise into projects, Drive Agency prioritizes authentic collaboration. “We actively involve local and regional organizations,” he adds. “These partners bring invaluable lived experience and contextual knowledge that cannot be replicated from a distance.” This approach strengthens both credibility and impact Looking Ahead Jessy’s vision for Drive Agency remains anchored in bold ambition and fearless experimentation. “We will continue to show up each day as a woman-owned, woman-powered firm committed to redefining what’s possible,” he states. “We embrace calculated risks and accept that failure is often part of meaningful innovation.” The path forward may be uncertain, but the mindset is unwavering. “The future will be shaped by those willing to think big, act courageously, and pursue transformative change,” he concludes. “And we’re fully ready for that journey.
